Marco Filibeck graduated in lighting design at Teatro Comunale in Bologna and has been working at Teatro alla Scala since 1985 , where has been then appointed Lighting Designer in 2009.
He coordinated and designed stage lighting for important productions crated by the most outstanding opera directors: Giorgio Strehler, Luca Ronconi, Yannis Kokkos, Alfredo Arias, Franco Zeffirelli, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Robert Carsen, Robert Lepage, Debra Warner.

He has designed the lighting for special ballet productions and tours starring Roberto Bolle: Undine at Teatro alla Scala, Roberto Bolle & Friends in big open-air places of interest and famous archeological sites like at Colosseo in Rome, Piazza Plebiscito in Naples, Piazza Duomo in Milan, Valle dei Templi in Agrigento, Trittico 900 at Caracalla Roman Baths in Rome, Greek Theatre in Taormina, Sferisterio Teatre in Macerata, and Ancient Roman Arena in Verona.
Recent and significant opera productions at Teatro alla Scala are: Viaggio a Reims by Ronconi and Gae Aulenti, Simon Boccanegra by Tiezzi, Boheme and Aida by Franco Zeffirelli, Der Rosenkavalier by Wernicke, Faust by Nekrosius, Occasione fà il Ladro by Ponnelle, La Donna del Lago by Luis Pasqual, Attila by Lavia ,Oberto by Pier’Alli, Così fan tutte by Guth, Wozzeck by J.Flimm.
Other opera important productions are Zauberfloete and Carmina Burana by Mietta Corli at Teatro Coliseu in Porto City Portugal, Madama Butterfly by Michieletto at Taetro Regio in Turin, Quartett by Alex Ollé-Fura des Baus at Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Festwochen ,Amsterdam Holland Festival and Colon theatre ,Buenos Aires.
With Marco Gandini he has designed lighting for Cavalleria Rusticana at the presence of President of Italian Republic A. Ciampi for inauguration re-opening of Teatro Goldoni in Mascagni’s hometown Livorno, Betulia Liberata by Mozart at Salzburg Pfingsten Festival as premiere staged version conducted by Riccardo Muti, Così Fan Tutte at New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Simon Boccanegra at Korean National Opera in Seoul conducted by Chung, Un Ballo in Maschera and Viaggio a Reims both for inauguration at Teatro del Maggio in Florence.
He has created lighting design for art, fashion and photography exhibitions: Milano Moderna at Palazzo della triennale in Milan, Alvar Aalto by Enrico Baleri at Fiera in Milan, Dolce & Gabbana Haute Couture Fashion Show in Taormina.
Marco Filibeck is teacher for Lighting Design at Teatro alla Scala Academy , Brera Academy and Politecnico in Milan.
